What it is:

Kenya’s premier national mental health conference returns for its second edition, convening researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and lived-experience experts to shape the future of mental health systems across the country, and the continent.

Hosted by the Ministry of Health and partners, the conference is a critical platform for science, care, systems reform, and innovation.

Why it matters for you:

If you're a researcher, mental health worker, policymaker, advocate, or student working in African mental health, this is your spotlight. This conference is open to emerging voices and seasoned pros alike, especially those tackling community-led models, crisis care, stigma, or gender-responsive mental health in diverse Kenyan and African contexts.

What you can propose in abstract:

  • Research findings on mental health systems, policies, or interventions

  • Case studies from community-based mental health work

  • Innovations in psychiatric care, psychosocial support, or trauma recovery

  • Perspectives on mental health equity, access, and stigma

  • Gender, youth, disability, and conflict-related mental health issues

  • Integration of traditional healing and biomedical models
